Zulu SeedZ 2017

Staying true to our mission to rebuild and restore balance to low-income, marginalized and disadvantaged communities by helping, encouraging, inspiring and empowering women, children, youth and young adults around the world Phoenix Queens of the Nation is once again organizing our Annual Zulu SeedZ Toy & Clothing Drive – this year in support of the children and youth of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (BGCVP) Lassiter Courts Unit in Newport News, Virginia.

Our Annual Zulu SeedZ Toy & Clothing Drive is a community service initiative which began in 2014 in support of the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore located in the Bronx, NYC. Every year since, PQOTN has used this as an opportunity to assist low income families in the Bronx during the holiday season; doing our part to ease the economic burden and stress families may experience during this time.

This year, it our honor to help support the children and youth of BGCVP Lassiter Courts. As a youth development organization, Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula (BGCVP) has provided development opportunities to youth living on the Peninsula since 1946. Initially known as the Boys Club of Newport News and serving 250 boys, within the last seven decades BGCVP has grown at an amazing rate, serving nearly 6,000 unduplicated boys and girls in the cities of Newport News, Hampton and Williamsburg and in the counties of York, Gloucester and Mathews since 2015. BGCVP provides youth development opportunities during the afterschool hours, spring break and summer recess with a focus on five core areas: Education & Career Development, Character & Leadership Development, Health & Life Skills, Sports, Recreation & Fitness, and the Arts. By focusing on these five core areas, BGCVP are providing youth with a firm foundation to succeed in every area of their lives. BGCVP’s purpose is captured in its mission, which is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need them most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

On December 15th, Lassiter Courts will be having it’s first Annual Christmas Celebration. Phoenix Queens of the Nation is ready and willing help make this event a success. We would like to use this year’s Zulu SeedZ Toy & Clothing Drive as a way to provide Lassiter Courts with much needed supplies and resources needed to help ensure that it’s members have the very best experience possible as as Boys & Girls Club members.
